PENCIL & PEN DRAWING
A drawing executed with an instrument composed of graphite enclosed in a wood casing or pens and ink to create images, usually on paper.
Pat Hershey used pen and pencil often in her paintings as well, but in this group of works, the pen and ink or pencil drawings are the only or primary media. While the painting formats represented distinct periods in her development as an artist, the drawings were a constant throughout her life. She carried sketchbooks everywhere, and we are still finding her drawings.
